My wife wants EA SPORTS Active for the Wii

Even though May 19th is an important date in our family for other reason, I would bet that my wife is going to be asking me if I can bring home EA SPORTS Active from the work company store.

I always like games that come with accessories. Although is it still a game if you get a workout while you’re having fun? I don’t know, but it’s close enough for me. Either way, it comes with accessories, and I think they are a simple but innovative way to use the Wii controls.

By the way, what is it exactly that makes Bob Greene so popular?

There is a page of videos if you want to know more.

Help out a good game and spread the news: Henry Hatsworth

Henry Hatsworth is a fun and novel game combining an action platformer with a puzzle game. It’s one of those games that isn’t quite like anything you’ve played before. If you haven’t heard about it, check out EA’s marketing site:
EA: Henry Hatsworth.

It’s bound to at least be a cult classic. If you like innovative games, please help spread the news and give it a chance to be much more than that.

Thanks

Cursor 10

Back in January, my friend Ben sent me a link to this innovative game called Cursor 10, but I never got around to posting about it.

It’s a great use of time as a key game play element.

If you are at all interested in video games, this is one that you are obligated to try it out.

Have you played EA Sports GameShow?

While I’m on the topic of video games, have you played EA Sports GameShow?

If you like sports trivia or sports talk radio, this is the game for you. It has a live DJ, sports trivia questions based on current events, and best of all, it’s free!!

To download it, go to http://www.eagameshow.com

If you want see what it’s like, check out this funsize version. It’s not the full game and doesn’t have the live questions and DJ, but it will give you a good idea of what the game is like.

GDC 2008 – Did you go?

Another year has come and gone of the Game Developer’s Conference.
I wasn’t able to attend this year, but there are always places that provide some news coverage of the events.

I thought one of the biggest announcements was Microsoft’s Xbox Live Community games. Providing a forum for people who aren’t official game developers to get exposure to their video games is a big deal, and quite frankly I was surprised that they didn’t allow this when they first announced the XNA Creators Club.

Although it’s a bit of a convoluted process to actually download the games, the first ones are already up. I’ve played some of them. Have you?

Btw, do you already have your Heisman? If not, then you better check out NCAA Football 2006.

Game Short: Darwinia

Darwinia is a cool indie game that has similar gameplay mechanisms to Pikmin, but set in a virtual computer polygonal world.

Download the demo and try it out.

GDC: Spore

So one of the big items of buzz at the Game Developers conference was Will Wright’s talk about his upcoming game Spore.

I missed the talk due to attending another excellent talk about motion data blending at the same time. However, from talking with people who did attend it sounds very cool.

You could probably call Spore an evolution game, but it’s much more than that. You start as a spore and can end up controlling the universe, but in the experience you will encounter different styles of gameplay and creations from other players (procedurally animated and constructed).

You can read more about it on gamespot.

Does anyone out there have shaky-cam footage of his demo? (Apparently people were told not to take pictures, so maybe not?)
